Published: September 27, 2021
Football has the most fans worldwide compared to other sports. A way to determine the success of a footballer is by the number of trophies he has in his collection.
Even though this is not the most precise way, fans of this sport often rely on the figures.
An emblematic contest is the Premier League Golden Shoe (also known as the Golden Boot). The trophy is given to the Premier League player who scored the most goals during a given season.
The top scorer also receives a monetary prize of £1,000 for every scored goal. The winner should donate the money for charitable purposes.
The competition takes into account the individual goal tallies of footballers from the Premier League. An interesting fact is that Thierry Henry is the only player who added four Golden Boot trophies to his collection.
This year, the competition for the Golden Boot trophy was fierce. In the end, Harry Kane clinched the trophy, with 23 goals scored in the 2020-2021 season.
Harry Kane
Harry Kane is an English professional footballer. Sports fans have seen him on the field on multiple occasions as he plays for the Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur as a striker.
This is not the first Golden Boot trophy for Kane. In the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, the footballer was named the top Premier League goal scorer.
This season, the main contenders for the trophy were Kane and Mohamed Salah. Both footballers scored an equal number of goals.
On the last day of the season, Kane tipped the balance in his favor after scoring a goal against Leicester. It was that goal that brought him the trophy.
Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah is a professional footballer who plays for the Premier League club Liverpool F.C. as a forward. Mohamed was born in Egypt in 1992 and started his football career in 2006.
Thanks to his outstanding performance at the 2012 Summer Olympics, he was named CAF’s Most Promising African Talent of the Year. In 2017 and 2018, Salah became the CAF African Footballer of the Year.
Despite his spectacular performance this season, Salah is the runner-up for the Premier League Golden Boot trophy.

Currently, Fernandes plays for Manchester United as a midfielder after the club paid €55 million for his signing from Sporting Clube de Portugal.
Son Heung-min and Patrick Bamford
Another vivid representative of Tottenham Hotspur managed to get into the top Premier League goal scorers. Son Heung-min scored 17 goals this season.
His achievement ranked him in fourth place in the contest for the Golden Boot trophy. The South Korean professional footballer was born in 1992.
At the moment, he plays as a forward for Tottenham. Son is the first Asian footballer in history who scored 50 goals in the Premier League.
Patrick Bamford is the other professional footballer ranked in fourth place for scoring 17 goals this season. Bamford plays for the Premier League club Leeds United as a forward.
The player joined the team in July 2018. Football fans most probably know that Bamford played for Chelsea back in the days.
