Southampton winger Nathan Tella watched proceedings from the bench for the entire duration of the game.
The big story of the day was Crystal Palace's 2-0 win over the reigning champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Five minutes from time, Nigeria Football Federation target Michael Olise replaced Cheikhou Kouyaté for his sixth appearance of the season.
Wilfried Zaha got the first goal for the Eagles in the sixth minute and Conor Gallagher the second in the 88th minute, the Chelsea loanee firing home after he was found by Olise.
At Turf Moor, Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka started and was in action for 58 minutes as Brentford suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Burnley - the Clarets first win of the campaign.
Burnley were in a comfortable lead at the interval, scoring through Chris Woods, Matthew Lowdon and Gnaly Cornet, while Ghoddos pulled a goal back at minute 79.
In the evening kickoff, Shola Shoretire is not in the Manchester United squad against Tobi Omole's Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
