Ex-Chelsea ace Moses reveals Spartak will keep close tabs on Leicester striker Daka
Published: November 04, 2021
Former Chelsea star Victor Moses has revealed that Spartak Moscow are determined not to repeat the mistakes of the first leg when they face off with Leicester City in a Europa League tie at King Power Stadium on Thursday night.
The Muscovites squandered a two-goal lead in an embarrassing 4-3 loss to the Foxes, with Moses and Kelechi Iheanacho providing two assists each for their teammates.
Zambia international Patson Daka was unarguably the standout player of the contest, scoring four goals and turned what could have been a disaster into a comfortable victory for Brendan Rodgers' team.
Moses underlined that the Spartak Moscow players will be keeping close tabs on Daka in tonight's clash to prevent him from causing damage.
"We have a difficult match. In the home game we were leading by two goals, but in the end we lost," Moses said at Wednesday's pre-match press conference.
"This time we will try to perform better. The main thing is that we manage to play together and competently.
"In the last matches, we did not succeed in everything including the defeat in St. Petersburg, for which we once again apologize but this is already in the past."
"We try to think about tomorrow's meeting. We drew conclusions, understood our mistakes. And we will do our best not to repeat them.
"This also applies to the game against forward Daka, who scored four goals in the Moscow match."
2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner Moses won the Europa League with Chelsea in 2013 and featured in the 2020 final for Inter Milan in their loss to Sevilla.
