Moses scores, Iheanacho hits post, Ndidi makes comeback as Leicester, Spartak share spoils
Published: November 04, 2021Leicester City and Spartak Moscow shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw in a Europa League tie at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night.
There were starts for Kelechi Iheanacho and Chelsea old boy Victor Moses, while Wilfred Ndidi and Ademola Lookman started on the bench for the home team.
In a first half of very, very few scoring opportunities, the closest chance to break the deadlock was from Boubakary Soumare, whose thunderous effort crashed off the underside of the bar at minute 18.
Iheanacho also came close but Spartak goalkeeper Alexander Selikhov was able to save his left-footed effort in the fourth minute.
Leicester had the upper hand but Spartak Moscow defended brilliantly, leaving both teams goalless at the break.
Just like the first leg, it was the Russian side that took the lead through Moses in the 51st minute, finishing off a move he started himself.
The former Nigeria international passed to a teammate and then continued his run, and he was perfectly found by Mikhail Ignatov.
Leicester City would be disappointed with their defending as Moses was against five defenders and got his head past goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Spartak's lead lasted less than seven minutes as Daniel Amartey powered home a header for 1-1.
In a double change, Ademola Lookman and Wilfred Ndidi were introduced off the bench in the 58th minute.
In a hugely significant moment, the referee pointed to the spot after Moses was adjudged to have brought down Lookman but there was a reprieve for the number 8 as Jamie Vardy's kick was saved in the 75th minute.
Leicester City were close to getting a second goal in the 84th minute but Iheanacho smashed his shot against the outside of the post.
With two matchdays left, it promises to be a thrilling finish to Group C as only three points separate Napoli, who top the table, and the bottom team Spartak Moscow.
