Ronaldo beats Nigeria-eligible striker, 8 others to Man Utd Goal of the Month award
Published: November 05, 2021
Shola Shoretire has missed out on Manchester United's Goal of the Month award for October 2021.
The England youth international of Nigerian descent was nominated for his effort in a Premier League 2 clash against Blackburn Rovers at Leigh Sports Village on October 16.
Other nominees were Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Zidane Iqbal, Sam
Murray, Anthony Martial, Ella Toone, Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood and
Edinson Cavani.
Ronaldo claimed the GOTM prize for his spectacular volley in the 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, Mason Greenwood's strike versus Leicester City was behind in second place, and another Ronaldo effort finished third with 12 percent of the votes cast.
Only one percent of United fans that participated in the poll voted for Shoretire.
The Anglo-Nigerian striker was nominated for the same prize for April 2021 but was beaten to the award by Uruguay marksman Edinson Cavani.
Shoretire has been named in the latest England U19 squad announced by the English Football Association on Friday.
