6ft 6in Nigerian center-back on target for West Brom against Arsenal in Premier League Cup
Published: November 11, 2021
West Brom maintained their one hundred percent record in the Premier League Cup by thrashing an understrength Arsenal team 4-1 at Meadow Park on Thursday night.
Folarin Balogun was not available for selection as he is currently with the England U21 squad and took to the pitch in a 3-1 win over Czech Republic today.
West Brom's 6ft 6in tall central defender of Nigerian descent Kevin Joshua was on parade for the entirety of the game.
The Baggies scored first through Tom Fellows before strikes from Reyes Cleary and Rayhaan Tulloch killed off the game as a contest.
In the second half, Joshua headed in following a set-piece to increase West Ham's lead in the 56th minute and Edwards netted a consolation for the Gunners in the closing minutes.
Joshua has been one of West Brom's standout players of the Premier League Cup, helping goalkeeper Ted Cann register clean sheets against Bournemouth and Southampton in their first two fixtures before the visit to Arsenal.
The 19-year-old is targeting a call-up to Nigeria's Olympic National Team ahead of the 2023 U23 AFCON qualifiers.
