Aribo reveals exactly what Rangers boss told the midfielders to do in win vs Livingston
Published: November 28, 2021Joe Aribo has revealed that the midfielders received specific instructions from new Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst before stepping out onto the Tony Macaroni Arena turf for Sunday's Premiership meeting against Livingston.
The Super Eagles star started in a three-man midfield alongside Scott Arfield and Glen Kamara.
Van Bronckhorst gave the midfielders the license to roam forward and it was a right tactical move by the Dutchman as the Light Blues found themselves two goals up inside sixteen minutes courtesy of strikes from Arfield and Aribo.
Speaking to Rangers TV post-match, Aribo said : "We're told to make a lot of runs into the box and to run forward because it just makes mayhem. The defenders don't know what to actually do so it's nice to have that and be able to get forward".
The Dutch football tactician has made small changes to the squad since replacing Steven Gerrard as coach of Rangers.
Aribo has admitted that the players are still learning his working methods and need time to adapt to the philosophy of the new manager.
The Rangers number 17 said : "We'll still learning you know. Rome wasn't built in a day so it's going to take time for us to get there.
"We'll just keep improving, keep getting better and keep learning from him".
"We'll just keep improving, keep getting better and keep learning from him".
Following their 3-1 win over Livingston, Rangers are leading the way in the Premiership table with 33 points accumulated, four more than Glasgow rivals Celtic, before their trip to Hibernian on December 1.
