were in action for their respective clubs in the English Premier League
on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
At Anfield, England U19 international of Nigerian descent Carney Chukwuemeka watched proceedings from the bench as Aston Villa suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
Following a goalless first half, Mohamed Salah broke the deadlock from the spot, thumping a low finish into the bottom corner in the 67th minute.
At the Emirates Stadium in London, Arsenal returned to winning ways after suffering two successive defeats on the road, thrashing Southampton 3-0.
Former Arsenal schoolboy Nathan Tella went the distance for the Saints and looked lively in the opening minutes, goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo was an unused substitute for the home team and Folarin Balogun wasn't in the matchday 20.
Alexandre Lacazette put Arsenal in front in the 21st minute following a quick counter attack, they added their second goal six minutes later through Martin Odegaard and Gabriel headed the ball home to make it 3-0 in the 62nd minute.
In the late kickoff, Shola Shoretire, who made his Champions League debut midweek, has not been named in Manchester United's matchday squad against Norwich City at Carrow Road.
