Ndidi will not face Tottenham tonight after fresh update from Premier League
Published: December 16, 2021Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur should have met in a Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night, with Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi in contention to feature.
However, the match has been postponed by the Premier League Board due to an increase in positive Covid-19 cases within Leicester's squad today, informs the Foxes on their official webpage.
As a result of the new positive tests, Leicester City have an insufficient number of first team players available to fulfill the match.
Leicester's opponents, Tottenham Hostpur have also had Covid issues of their own, which is why their Europa League match against Rennes was cancelled and Premier League game vs Brighton & Hove was postponed.
Manager Brendan Rodgers revealed at the pre-match press conference that nine of his players were unavailable for selection due to Covid and medical related issues.
Assuming tonight's game against Tottenham Hotspur went ahead, Kelechi Iheanacho and Ademola Lookman would not have taken part because of the aforementioned reason.
Ndidi was poised to continue his role as an emergency center back against the north London team with Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu and Daniel Amartey set to miss out due to fitness issues.
