'He spoke with me and the team' – Atalanta coach confirms rift with Lookman is over
Published: September 21, 2025
Atalanta coach Ivan Juric has praised Ademola Lookman following his return to action in the club's 3-0 Serie A victory over Torino.
The Nigerian forward came on in the 87th minute, marking his first appearance of the season after uncertainty surrounding his future during the summer transfer window.
Juric addressed Lookman’s situation directly after the match, stressing that the matter had been settled and the player was now fully reintegrated into the squad.
"Lookman? That’s a closed issue,” Juric said, as quoted by Tuttosport.
"The group is solid. He spoke with me and the team on Monday. He has a great winning mentality: now we need to get him back physically fit.”
The Croatian coach highlighted the importance of Lookman’s mindset and assured that the forward remains a key figure for the club despite the off-field distractions.
His reintroduction, Juric suggested, strengthens Atalanta’s attacking options as the team prepares for upcoming challenges, including the highly anticipated clash against Juventus.
Lookman had expressed a desire to leave Bergamo earlier in the summer, but the club insisted on keeping him, ultimately ending transfer speculation.
With his return, Juric emphasized that the focus is now entirely on football and on restoring Lookman’s peak form.
