Arsenal-owned Anglo-Nigerian wing-back stars on his professional debut for Crewe Alexandra
Published: February 02, 2022
Ryan Alebiosu made his professional debut as Crewe Alexandra were beaten 1-0 by Gillingham in a League One match at Priestfield Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Hale End Academy product completed a loan move to the Railwaymen on January 28 but the clash with Rotherham United the following day came too soon for him.
Wearing number 2 on the back of his jersey, the Arsenal-owned wing-back was named in the starting lineup against Gillingham and was impressive in a 90-minute shift despite the loss.
Lloyd-McGoldrick sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to score what proved to be the winning goal in the seventeenth minute.
Alebiosu enjoyed plenty of the ball in the early stages of the second half and was close to bagging an assist on the hour mark when he sent in a cross but Porter headed wide from close range.
The Anglo-Nigerian defender made his senior debut twelve years after joining the Arsenal academy.
Former Chelsea wing-back Tariq Uwakwe was also involved against Gillingham and was denied a debut goal just before the hour mark when the goalkeeper made a brilliant save.
