Confirmed: Former Juventus winger Raffaele Palladino to coach Lookman at Atalanta

Through a statement on the official website, Atalanta has confirmed the appointment of former Juventus winger Raffaele Palladino as their new head coach, a development that may provide a much-needed reset for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman.

The announcement comes after the exit of Ivan Jurić, whose tenure ended amid poor results and growing internal tensions.

Jurić's departure follows a contentious moment during a Champions League match against Marseille, where the coach was seen shoving Lookman after substituting him.

The incident sparked widespread criticism and symbolized a deteriorating relationship between player and manager.

Atalanta’s subsequent 3-0 defeat to Sassuolo only intensified the pressure, ultimately leading to Jurić’s dismissal.

Palladino, aged 41, brings a reputation for fluid, attacking football, most recently demonstrated during his time at Fiorentina.

His preferred 3-4-2-1 system encourages wide forwards to drift into half-spaces and attack with freedom—an approach that seems well suited to Lookman’s dribbling ability, movement, and composed finishing.

With a crucial fixture against Napoli looming after the international break, where Lookman is currently away on duty with Nigeria, Palladino’s arrival presents a timely opportunity.

The change in leadership could restore Lookman’s confidence and potentially secure his long-term future in Bergamo.
