Published: February 04, 2022
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta promoted promising defender Mazeed Ogungbo to first team training on Friday.
The Gunners have started preparations for their next competitive game which comes up on February 10 against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium.
Ogungbo trained with the first teamers in the gym before another training session on grass at the London Colney pitch in St Albans.
The 19-year-old has been capped by Republic of Ireland at U19 level and is provisionally cap-tied to the Football Association of Ireland having played competitive games at that level.
He is one of the nine players of Nigeria descent classed as U21 players and scholars registered by Arsenal for the Premier League for the remainder of the 2021-2022 campaign.
Ogungbo was originally a left-back but has played mainly as a central defender for the development squad this term.
He started for the U23s in their ongoing game against Chelsea in the Premier League 2.
