Manchester United legend begins running the rule over Super Eagles defender
Published: February 05, 2022
Manchester United legend Steve Bruce was appointed as the new coach of West Brom earlier this week and joins the Baggies with the aim of returning the club to the English Premier League.
Bruce was out of work for only three months following his dismissal by the new owners of Newcastle United.
The 61-year-old got his spell as manager of West Brom underway on Friday with a training session at West Bromwich Albion Training Ground in Walsall and it is confirmed that the experienced gaffer ran the rule over Super Eagles center back Semi Ajayi.
The former Arsenal U21 captain will be aiming to force his way into the starting lineup under Bruce.
Ajayi did not make his first start of the season until matchday five versus Peterborough United and kept his place in the starting lineup for the next ten matches before falling out of favour.
Since October 30, 2021, Ajayi has logged only four minutes in the Championship and his lack of game time may have contributed to the decision of the Super Eagles coaches to initially omit him from the Africa Cup of Nations roster.
Steve Bruce has signed an 18-month contract at The Hawthorns.
