Leicester City WFC CB on target against West Ham ahead of potential Nigeria debut this week
Central defender Ashleigh Plumptre will report for international duty full of confidence after scoring her first-ever goal in the Women's Super League as Leicester City thrashed West Ham United 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The former England youth international has been named in the Super Falcons squad for their 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Ivory Coast this month, with the first leg coming up on Friday, February 18.

Plumptre is now eligible to play competitive matches for Nigeria after Fifa approved her change of association request.

After Natasha Flint had given Leicester City the lead in the second minute, Plumptre nodded Purfield's free-kick into the bottom corner to put the home team in control of the game in the ninth minute.

Freya Gregory added more misery to West Ham when she scored Leicester City's third goal four minutes into the second half.

Plumptre's eye-catching display saw her nominated for the club's official Player of the Match award, along with
Abbie McManus, Natasha Flint and Freya Gregory.

The Super Falcons hopeful has helped the Foxes earn three straight wins in all competitions.
