Nigeria-eligible strikers score three of Crystal Palace's five goals in win against Arsenal U18s
Published: February 19, 2022
Crystal Palace have climbed to third spot in the provisional U18 Premier League table after thrashing Arsenal 5-0 at the Crystal Palace Training Ground on Saturday afternoon.
Four players of Nigerian descent - goalkeeper Owen Goodman, midfielder David Ozoh, strikers Victor Akinwale and Ademola Ola-Adebomi - started for the Eagles.
After a goalless first half, Akinwale broke the deadlock in the 51st minute and Mooney doubled the advantage just past the hour mark.
Ola-Adebomi would seal things when he scored a third goal for the Eagles with fifteen minutes to go before grabbing his second of the afternoon in the 82nd minute, assisted by Akinwale, and Mooney made it 5-0 at minute 85.
Ola-Adebomi is in the form of his life with 11 goals in all competitions in his last eight games for Palace U18s while England U18 international Akinwale has thirteen goals to his name in fourteen appearances in the U18 Premier League
Palace's win vs the Gunners was the biggest margin of victory they have recorded in the division since thrashing West Brom U18s 7-1 on May 5, 2021.
