AWCONQ : Leicester, Atletico Madrid, Houston Dash stars named in Nigeria starting XI vs CIV
Published: February 23, 2022
Nigeria coach Randy Waldrum has announced his starting lineup for Wednesday evening's 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifier against Ivory Coast at the Stade Robert Champroux, Abidjan.
The American football tactician has made two changes to the team which defeated the Lady Elephants 2-0 in the first leg in Abuja last Friday.
Waldrum has stuck with Paris FC netminder Chiamaka Nnadozie in goal and it's a back four composed of Houston Dash's Michelle Alozie, Leicester City's Ashleigh Plumptre, Deportivo Alaves's Osinachi Ohale and Minsk's Onome Ebi.
Ebi will continue to wear the captain's armband in the absence of Barcelona ace Asisat Oshoala who suffered a training ground injury that will keep her sidelined for ten weeks.
Regina Otu starts in midfield alongside Atletico Madrid's Rasheedat Ajibade and the experienced Madrid CFF star Rita Chikwelu.
Two-goal heroine in the first leg Ifeoma Onumonu is partnered in attack by AS Saint Etienne's Esther Okoronkwo and CSKA Moscow's Francisca Ordega.
Nigeria's starting XI : Nnadozie; Plumptre, Ebi, Ohale, Alozie; Otu, Ajibade, Chikwelu; Okoronkwo, Onumonu, Ordega
