Aribo, Bassey go the distance as Rangers throw away two-goal lead vs Motherwell
Published: February 27, 2022
Glasgow Rangers failed to narrow the gap on Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table after Motherwell came from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw at Ibrox Stadium on Sunday evening.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst made two changes to his side with Nigerian duo Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey retaining their places in the starting lineup, and Leon Balogun named on the bench.
After Morelos hit the crossbar from close-range in the second minute, the Colombia center forward was not denied midway through the first half when he forced an own goal.
Zambia star Fashion Sakala doubled the lead with a tremendous strike at the back post in the 24th minute.
Roberts converted Woolery's cross to pull one back in the 52nd minute, before two Morelos efforts were ruled out for offside.
Woolery powered past McGregor at the near post to equalise for Motherwell with fourteen minutes left on the clock.
Balogun remained rooted to the bench for the entirety of the game while Aribo and Bassey went the distance.
