Moyes names two Nigeria-eligible players in matchday squad in West Ham's 1-0 win vs Wolves
Published: February 27, 2022
West Ham United boss David Moyes named two youngsters of Nigerian descent in his matchday squad for the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers to the London Stadium on Sunday.
For the sixth time in 2021-2022, Republic of Ireland youth teamer Armstrong Okoflex was on the bench for a Premier League game and it was an eighth squad involvement for England U20 international Ajibola Alese.
They will have to wait to make their Premier League debuts with both unused substitutes.
While Alese has two first team appearances for the Hammers, Okoflex, the star of West Ham's development squad, has not tasted action for the senior team since his summer move from Glasgow Celtic.
Former Hale Ender Okoflex has tallied eleven goals in sixteen Premier League 2 appearances, including a hat-trick against his former employers Arsenal on the opening day of the season.
Academy product Alese has started seventeen of the nineteen games played by West Ham in the Premier League 2, scoring against Palace and Everton.
West Ham secured their first win in three games thanks to Tomás Soucek's close range finish just before the hour mark.
