Injury stops PSV's Dutch-Nigerian CB Van de Blaak from playing in a provisionally cap-tying match
Published: March 01, 2022
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that highly-rated PSV Eindhoven youngster Emmanuel van de Blaak is not in contention to play in a provisionally cap-tying match for the Netherlands next month.
The 2005-born center back of Nigerian descent sustained a serious injury during Netherlands U17s 5-0 win over Mexico in November 2021 and is expected to be out of action until the beginning of next season.
Van de Blaak earned caps for Netherlands U15s before he was promoted to the Dutch U17 set up for the 2021-2022 campaign, making his debut in a friendly against Norway in September 2021.
If not for the injury, the 17-year-old would have been named in the Netherlands squad for next month's U17 Euro Elite Round qualifying matches against Hungary, Slovakia and Greece.
Prior to his spell on the sidelines, the Dutch-Nigerian defender was involved in eleven of the fourteen games played by Jong PSV in the second-tier of Dutch football, the Keuken Kampioen Divisie.
He turned out for the youth teams of Advendo, RKVV JEKA and Willem II before switching to PSV in the summer of 2020.
