18yo Anglo-Nigerian defender trains with Arsenal at Emirates Stadium pre-Watford
Published: March 01, 2022
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta ran the rule over promising Anglo-Nigerian center back Zach Awe, 18, on Tuesday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The north London club head into this weekend's fixture against Emmanuel Dennis' Watford with their top four hopes very much alive following back-to-back wins against Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Gunners U23 rising star Awe was invited to train with first teamers such as Bukayo Saka, Nicolas Pepe, Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny at the Emirates Stadium.
The Hale End academy product was a non-playing substitute when Arsenal faced off with Wolves at the Molineux Stadium on February 10, his first and only call-up to the first team to date.
The central defender seems to be highly thought of by the Gunners youth team coaching staff having worn the captain's armband for the recent game against Liverpool in the Premier League 2.
Right back was Awe's natural position on the pitch until he was poached by the Arsenal academy at U8 level and converted to a center back.
