Three Nigerian stars nominated for Leicester Goal of the Month for February
Published: March 01, 2022
Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and Ademola Lookman have been nominated for Leicester City's Goal of the Month for February, informs the official website of the Foxes.
In their bid to win the monthly accolade, the three Nigerian stars are facing competition from four other players namely James Maddison who has been double nominated, Ricardo Pereira, Freya Gregory and Tawanda Maswanhise.
Iheanacho has been shortlisted for his goal against Nottingham Forest in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup, Ndidi for his effort in the home leg of the Europa Conference League playoff vs Randers and Lookman for his strike against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.
Against Forest, Iheanacho, who had just returned from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, rounded the goalkeeper before scoring from a very difficult angle to reduce the deficit in the 40th minute.
Ndidi netted his second European goal this season at the midway point of the first half in a 4-1 rout of Randers.
Lookman played a one-two with Ndidi - in an 18-yard box packed with Randers defenders - and the holding midfielder slotted past the goalkeeper.
Against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Youri Tielemans found a moment of class to thread Marc Albrighton
through to set up Lookman for a deserved equaliser in the 41st minute.
