Manchester United decline the chance to sign N46.3b-rated Nigeria international
Published: March 01, 2022
Manchester United have reportedly declined the chance to sign Nigeria international Victor Osimhen in the summer.
According to the Daily Star, the Red Devils ruled out a move due to Napoli's 100 million euros (approximately 46.3 billion in Nigerian currency) valuation of the striker.
Manchester United are in the market for a center forward ahead of next season amid uncertainty over the futures of Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo, plus the situation involving Mason Greenwood.
Osimhen featured prominently on a list of potential summer targets after interim boss Ralf Rangnick was asked to draw up a list by CEO Richard Arnold.
When the 2015 U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner joined the Partenopei
from Lille in 2020, he became the most expensive African-born player in
history at seventy million euros.
Osimhen has tallied 11 goals in 22 appearances despite an injury-disrupted season that saw him spend two months on the sidelines.
The 23-year-old has a contract with Napoli until the end of the 2024-2025 season.
