'Familiar rivals' - Arsenal loanee Balogun reacts to Boro knocking Spurs out of FA Cup
Published: March 02, 2022
Folarin Balogun has taken to social media to react to Middlesbrough knocking Tottenham Hotspur out of the FA Cup on Tuesday night.
In search of regular game time, the Anglo-American-Nigerian striker was loaned out to Boro by parent club Arsenal until the end of the 2021-2022 season.
Balogun entered the pitch as a substitute in the 75th minute and was in action for 45 minutes as the match stretched into extra time before a winner could be decided.
The Riverside Stadium erupted when Josh Coburn broke through and sent a wonderful strike into the far corner for what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 107th minute.
In the 120th minute, Boro were close to extending their lead as Balogun burst forward and squared for Coburn who could not apply the finish.
Balogun's piece of skill that left Tottenham Hotspur's Argentina defender Cristian Romero for dead has been hailed by several fans.
The England U21 international retweeted a post from Boro and commented : "Big result against familiar rivals".
The fifth round FA Cup clash against Arsenal's bitter rivals was Balogun tenth appearance for Boro in all competitions.
