'They are all good players' - Red Star ace Omoijuanfo praises Rangers' Nigerian trio ahead of UEL
Published: March 09, 2022
Red Star Belgrade striker Ohi Omoijuanfo has labeled Glasgow Rangers' Nigerian trio Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey 'good players' before the Serbian giants face off with the Scottish Premiership champions in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Omoijuanfo remains eligible to wear the colours of Nigeria even though he was called up to Norway's national team in 2021, four years after making his non-competitive debut for the Scandinavians in a friendly against Sweden.
The Norwegian-Nigerian striker knows a little bit about the qualities of Balogun and Aribo because he has been following the progress of the Super Eagles.
"I don't know too much to be honest. Balogun is probably the one I know the best due to his games with Nigeria, same with Aribo when he played, " Omoijuanfo said to allnigeriasoccer.com.
"I saw Calvin Bassey for the first time when they played against Borussia Dortmund so I know enough to know they are all good players."
Omoijuanfo is optimistic of Red Star Belgrade progressing to the quarterfinals of the Europa League and highlighted the strengths of the 1991 European champions.
"It's hard for me to point out a main strength. We have a solid team with match winners on both sides of the pitch.
"We have good attackers and a really good and solid defence."
The 28-year-old has been on fire since his winter move to Red Star Belgrade and is pleased with the way he has adapted quickly to the club with four goals in his first six appearances.
"I have good players around me who feed me the ball and make it easier for me on the pitch.
"I have had a good start but I still feel like I have more to offer so I'll be working hard to get there," Omoijuanfo concluded.
