Ghana-eligible forward beats Manchester United starlet Shoretire to win PL2 Player of the Month
Published: March 14, 2022
Crystal Palace's Ghana-eligible striker Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has won February 2022's Premier League 2 Player of the Month award, the official website of the Premier League informed on Monday.
The England U20 international won the award thanks to an outstanding month that saw him score three goals in three appearances in the Premier League 2 Division 1, helping the Eagles pick up seven points from nine.
Rak-Sakyi saw off competition from Manchester United wonderkid of Nigerian descent Shola Shoretire and five other youngsters to win the monthly accolade.
Other nominees were Fulham's Luke Harris and Sonny Hilton, Manchester City's Juan Larios and James McAtee, and Southampton's Luke Pearce.
Shoretire was involved in four goals in his three appearances for the Red Devils in the Premier League 2 in February.
The Anglo-Nigerian bagged two assists in a 3-1 win over West Brom
on February 5 and fifteen days later netted his third assist of the
month vs Palace before getting on the scoresheet in a 5-2 rout of Derby
County on February 25.
Aston Villa starlet Caleb Chukwuemeka and Arsenal-owned striker
Folarin Balogun won the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for
September and November respectively.
