Super Eagles training : Amuneke drills Iheanacho, Simon on crossing; Eguavoen handles strikers, midfielders
Published: March 28, 2022
The Super Eagles held their penultimate workout on Sunday evening before their 2022 World Cup playoff against Ghana, with all the players in camp with the exception of injured Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze involved in the session, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
With fans and media allowed to watch the workout but from the stands, there was no 11-a-side game after the jogging and stretching exercises.
Super Eagles assistant coach Emmanuel Amuneke worked with the wingers, defenders and a lone center forward in Sadiq Umar, while interim boss Augustine Eguavoen was having a drill with the midfielders and strikers on the other side.
Amuneke prepared the wingers for crossing and then prepared the four defenders for the striker that will come for the ball.
Moses Simon and Ahmed Musa were delivering the balls from the right flank, while Akinkunmi Amoo and Kelechi Iheanacho did same from the left flank.
Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, Zaidu Sanusi and Ola Aina defended against Sadiq, and after a while the defenders were changed, with Kenneth Omeruo, Semi Ajayi, Shehu Abdullahi and Calvin Bassey taking their places.
Omonia Nicosia's Francis Uzoho was the goalkeeper in this scenario, a strong hint that he will keep his place in goal against the Black Stars tomorrow evening.
