Nigeria-eligible trio score five of Crystal Palace U18s six goals in win against Aston Villa
Published: April 02, 2022
Crystal Palace beat Aston Villa 6-1 in a U18 Premier League fixture at Crystal Palace Training Ground on Saturday afternoon, with four teenagers of Nigerian descent on parade.
Midfielder David Ozoh was joined in Crystal Palace's starting lineup by strikers Victor Akinwale and Ademola Ola-Adebomi, while Chisom Afoka started for the Lions.
The Eagles were 2-1 up at the break thanks to a brace from Akinwale while Moore pulled a goal back for Aston Villa.
For his first goal, Akinwale dinked the ball over Sam Lewis after seeing the goalkeeper a long way off his line twelve minutes in and doubled Palace's advantage from twelve yards in the 24 minute when he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the spot to put the home team in a dominant position.
Two minutes into the second half, the 17-year-old thought he had bagged a hat-trick but the goal was disallowed for offside.
In the 56th minute, Akinwale headed the ball into the roof of the net for his hat-trick after a brilliant delivery from a teammate.
Ozoh drilled the ball low into the bottom corner to make it 5-1 before Ola-Adebomi got in on the act with five minutes left on the clock.
