Anglo-Polish-Nigerian midfielder scores injury time winner for Manchester United U18s
Published: April 09, 2022
Manchester United have Maximilano Oyedele to thank for their 3-2 win over Stoke City in an U18 Premier League clash at Clayton Wood Training Ground on Saturday afternoon, as the midfielder struck in stoppage time to hand his team all three points.
The Potters opened the scoring inside ten minutes when Nathan Lowe's shot took a fortunate deflection and wrong footed the Manchester United goalkeeper.
Nigeria-eligible center back David Okagbue rose highest to head home a corner in the sixteenth minute and doubled the advantage in the process.
But the Red Devils fought back and were able to bring the game back to parity as Joe Hugill slotted home from six yards out in the 35th minute before teeing up Ennis for the equaliser in the 61st minute.
United searched for a winning goal and found it through Oyedele who headed past the goalkeeper after he was picked out by Samuel Mather.
Oyedele has registered his name on the scoresheet three times for the U18s this season, with his other strikes coming against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the U18 Premier League Cup and Scunthorpe United in the FA Youth Cup.
The first year scholar made his debut for Poland U18s in a friendly against Switzerland last month.
