Crystal Palace manager reveals what pleased him about Eze in loss to Leicester City
Published: April 11, 2022
Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira was delighted with the contribution of Eberechi Eze in his side's 2-1 defeat to Leicester City in a Premier League meeting at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
A composed finish from Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman gave the Foxes the lead in 39th minute, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall doubled the advantage with a stunning strike just before halftime and Wilfried Zaha pulled a goal back when he nodded home the rebound after his retaken penalty was saved by goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in the 66th minute.
Vieira brought on Eze as a replacement for Conor Gallagher in the 58th minute in a tactical substitution to add more firepower to the attack of the Eagles.
Palace looked livelier after the introduction of the Nigeria Football Federation target and won a penalty that Zaha had to take twice and scored on the rebound.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Vieira praised Eberechi Eze and James McArthur, saying : "I was really pleased because I think they bought more passes forward.
"They brought a little bit more tempo. That allowed us to create a couple of more situations and chances."
Eze was left on the bench for five consecutive matches in the Premier League before yesterday's clash with Leicester City.
