Three former Barca stars, ex-Porto boss in the running for Eagles job after New Telegraph reveal
Three former Barcelona players and an ex-Real Madrid assistant coach are reportedly in the running for the vacant Super Eagles job.

New Telegraph newspaper claims that the Technical and Development Committee of the Nigerian Federation has recommended three super coaches to the NFF namely Laurent Blanc, Phillip Cocu and Ernesto Valverde, who all represented Barcelona during their playing days.

The fourth coach in contention for the role of Super Eagles manager is former Real Madrid assistant coach and ex-Porto boss José Peseiro.

Nigerian Federation chief Amaju Pinnick revealed last week it would be a plus if Peseiro agrees to manage the Super Eagles after talks between the parties broke down earlier this year due to financial issues and clauses in the proposed contract.

The Nigerian Federation have decided that a foreign coach will be appointed for the Super Eagles as a permanent replacement for erstwhile manager Gernot Rohr.

A two-and-a-half-year permanent deal had been offered to former interim manager Augustine Eguavoen before the World Cup playoff against Ghana but the offer was withdrawn after the country's failure to qualify for the tournament in Qatar.

The good news is that Blanc, Cocu, Valverde and Peseiro are all free agents in football parlance, meaning the Nigerian Federation will not have to pay financial compensation to a club or country before closing the deal.
