Arsenal's Nigerian-born midfielder out for four months after horror tackle from McNulty
Published: April 12, 2022
Arsenal's talented Nigerian-born youngster Tim Akinola will certainty not play again this season, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
The 20-year-old went under the knife earlier this week and this website can now confirm with certainty he is completely done for the season as he faces three to four months on the sidelines if his recovery goes according to plan.
Last month during training at Scottish Premiership side Dundee United, striker Marc McNulty made a horrendous tackle on Akinola as the players took part in a possession-based drill.
The Gunners loanee lay on the pitch in agony and the culprit McNulty was one of the first players that rushed to his aid but the damage was already done.
Following a successful ankle surgery, the Anglo-Nigerian will miss Dundee United's last five games of the season and is also not at the disposal of Arsenal's development coaches for the rest of the campaign.
Akinola is expected to have fully recovered in time for the beginning of the 2022-2023 season.
He missed the start of pre-season training as he was recovering from a groin injury sustained at the back end of the 2020-2021 campaign.
