2019 Golden Eaglets invitee concedes three goals as Chelsea U18s lose to Southampton
Published: April 13, 2022
2019 Golden Eaglets invitee Prince Adegoke had a nightmarish game for
Chelsea U18s with Southampton thrashing the Blues 3-0 in an U18 Premier
League match staged at Cobham Training Centre on Wednesday afternoon.
Joining
Adegoke in the starting lineup of the young Blues were two other
teenagers of Nigerian descent, strikers Louis Flower and Tudor
Mendel-Idowu and a fourth Anglo-Nigerian player Chinonso Chibueze started on the bench.
The visitors were two goals
up at the break courtesy of efforts from Luke Pearce and Dominic
Ballard in the 16th and 19th minute respectively.
Ballard doubled the advantage from the spot after Mendel-Idowu was harshly adjudged to have fouledĀ Finnigan in the box.
Eighteen minutes from time, Pearce with his second of the afternoon wrapped up the scoring.
Chelsea,
who have lost back-to-back matches in the division, are sixth in the
U18 Premier League standings with 39 points accumulated, eleven less
than table toppers Southampton.
Chelsea U18s still have a chance to win silverware this season when they face Fuham for the U18 Premier League Cup at Craven Cottage on Wednesday, May 4.
