Ex-Flying Eagles CB named Players' Player and Player of the Season at Blackpool
Published: May 02, 2022
Former Nigeria U20 international Marvin Ekpiteta has been named Blackpool's Player of the Season for the 2021-2022 campaign, informs the official website of the Seasiders.
The 26-year-old's commanding displays in defence and goalscoring ability did not go unnoticed.
In 41 appearances across all competitions, Ekpiteta helped Blackpool keep twelve clean sheets and chipped in with five goals and one assist.
The Player of the Season award was presented to the ex-Flying Eagles star on the pitch after Saturday's Championship clash against Derby County.
The centre-back received the most votes from his teammates and also picked up the Players' Player of the Season award.
Ekpiteta was rewarded with a new deal in March 2022, keeping him at Bloomfield Road until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
The six-feet-four-inch defender had stops at Oxford United, Chelmsford City, Witham Town, Concord Rangers, East Thurrock United and Leyton Orient before joining Blackpool in July 2020.
