Amoo all but ruled out of Nigeria's four matches in May & June after update from FCK coach
Published: May 03, 2022
FC Copenhagen coach Jess Thorup has all but ruled Akinkunmi Amoo out of Nigeria's international friendly against Mexico on May 29, another friendly with Ecuador and two 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in June.
The former Brightville Academy winger has not featured for FC Copenhagen since he returned from the last international break of the season, making the matchday squad just once at Midtjylland, where he was a non-playing substitute.
Amoo's transfer to the Danish Superliga has not gone quite as planned considering that he has logged only 63 minutes in two games since arriving at FC Copenhagen from Hammarby in January.
Thorup has confirmed that it is looking likely that the former Golden Eaglets sensation will not play again this season.
In quotes relayed by bold.dk, Thorup said : "Amoo has got a sprain in the back thigh and is, as it looks now, out for the rest of the season."
Amoo earned his first senior call up for the March internationals against Ghana and was an unused substitute for the game in Abuja while he was omitted from the matchday squad in Kumasi.
