Flying Eagles number 11 picks up Man of the Match award after starring vs Ghana
Published: May 09, 2022
Ibrahim Muhammad was named Man of the Match following his outstanding display during Nigeria's 2-0 win over Ghana at the ongoing WAFU-UFOA Zone B U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The seven-time U20 African champions began group play with a convincing 2-0 win over the Black Satellites at the General Seyni Kountche Stadium in Niamey on Sunday evening.
Muhammad opened the scoring as early as the fifth minute when he rounded the Ghanaian goalkeeper from a counter attack before slotting the ball into the net.
The Flying Eagles number 11 is currently on the books of Maikunkele FC, a club based in Niger State.
Muhammad has been touted as one of the brightest prospects in the northern part of the country and would have put himself in the shop window with his impressive performance against Ghana.
HB Academy center forward Ahmed Abdullahi doubled the advantage for the Nigeria U20s with a powerful shot from inside the area.
Nigeria's next fixture at the WAFU-UFOA Zone B U20 AFCON comes up against Burkina Faso on May 11 and need only a draw to progress to the last four.
