'He was again very dangerous' - Ex-Netherlands intl hails Feyenoord's Super Eagles striker
Published: May 09, 2022
Retired Netherlands international Danny Koevermans lauded Cyriel Dessers after his brace helped Feyenoord come away with a point against PSV Eindhoven on Sunday.
The Eindhoven club looked to have secured a win as they were leading 2-0 with four minutes of regulation time left, only for the Nigeria international to score two late goals.
Dessers has put forward his best performances since he landed at Feyenoord on loan from Racing Genk in the summer transfer window, and his goals fired the Rotterdam club to the final of the Europa Conference League.
His impressive display against PSV saw him earn a spot on De Telegraaf's Eredivisie Team of the Week.
Explaining why he picked Dessers in the Team of the Week, Koevermans told the Dutch newspaper : "He was again very dangerous a number of times and scored two more in minute 86 and 96, against PSV.
"He does what he has to do, what a striker is judged on. That it wasn't worth a penalty is another matter, but shooting it so cool at that moment: great job again."
An option to buy set at four million euros was included in the loan deal taking Dessers to Feyenoord and it remains to be seen whether the clause will be triggered.
