Confirmed : Ipswich Town extend Super Eagles striker's contract
Published: May 19, 2022
Out-of-favour Super Eagles striker Sone Aluko has been re-engaged for next season by Ipswich Town.
The Blues have informed via their official website that they have triggered the one-year extension option on Aluko's contract, ensuring that he remains at the club for the 2022-2023 campaign.
Aluko arrived at Ipswich Town as a free agent last August and made thirty six appearances in all competitions in the recently concluded season.
The 33-year-old got on the score sheet in away matches against Cambridge United (2) and Portsmouth, and his only assist in the third-tier was against Crewe Alexandra back in November.
Reacting to prolonging his stay at The Blues, Aluko said : "I’m really excited about the upcoming campaign at Portman Road," Sone told the Club website.
"Although we didn’t achieve what we wanted to last season, I have full confidence in the squad, coaching staff and the Club as a whole. We will all give 100% then next season.
"It’s a privilege to be able to wear the Town shirt and I’m happy I get to enjoy that for at least another season. I can’t wait to get back out there at Portman Road in front of our supporters."
Previously, Aluko wore the colours of Birmingham City, Aberdeen, Blackpool, Rangers, Hull City, Fulham, Reading and Beijing Renhe.
