Hornets youth teamer Balogun reveals favourite footballing memory at Man Utd and Watford
Published: May 20, 2022
Highly-rated Watford youth teamer of Nigerian descent, Hamzat Balogun has declared that playing for Manchester United in his first ever tournament was his best footballing memory during his time with the Old Trafford outfit.
The promising fullback joined the Hornets Academy on scholarship terms in August 2021 and has gone on to become a key player for the U18s.
Balogun made his FA Youth Cup debut against Cardiff City this season, before making another start vs Chelsea in the third round of the competition.
The 16-year-old is an attacking and defensive fullback and admitted that he used to model his game on the cap-tied Austria international of Nigerian descent David Alaba.
On his favourite footballing memory, Balogun told Watford's official website : "When I was at Manchester United I played in my first ever tournament over in Poland, and we won it. It was the first time I had ever been abroad, and it was great.
"At Watford, I would say the FA Youth Cup game against Chelsea earlier this season was great. It was a very good night in front of the fans."
Balogun was invited to an England U15 training camp in October 2019.
