Official : Nigeria-eligible winger returns to Liverpool but ineligible to face Wolves on final day
Published: May 20, 2022
Through their official website, Championship club Millwall have confirmed that Nigeria-eligible winger Sheyi Ojo will not be signed on a permanent basis following the expiration of his loan deal with the South East London club.
The 2017 U20 World Cup winner with England is one of five loanees returning to their parent clubs.
Though Ojo is back at Liverpool, he is not eligible to represent the Champions League finalist in their final league game of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, May 22 because the Lions hold his registration for the whole of the 2021-2022 season.
The Anglo-Nigerian embarked on his seventh loan spell away from Anfield last summer in search of regular game time but his season was blighted by injuries, with only thirteen starts in all competitions.
Previously, Ojo spent time on loan at Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Reims, Rangers and Cardiff City.
Ojo has been on the books of Liverpool for a decade, after he was poached from MK Dons.
