Lorient duo added to Super Eagles squad for friendlies, AFCONQ; first call-up for Hapoel Jerusalem GK

Three players have been added to the Super Eagles roster ahead of their upcoming friendlies against  Mexico and Ecuador.

French Ligue 1 club Lorient have informed via their official website that Terem Moffi and Innocent Bonke have received invitations to join the Nigeria national team for the two friendlies in the United States.

The Merlucciidaes added that Bonke and Moffi will remain with the Super Eagles for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Sierra Leone and Mauritius on June 9 and June 13 respectively.

Bonke was in the Super Eagles team that held the Black Stars of Ghana to a goalless draw in Kumasi during the 2022 World Cup playoff but missed the second leg in Abuja due to injury.

Moffi has not figured for the national team for more than eight months, with his last appearance coming against Cape Verde in September 2021.

A third foreign based player in Adebayo Adeleye has earned his first-ever call-up to the Super Eagles.

The Hapoel Jerusalem glovesman replaces Sparta Rotterdam star Maduka Okoye who has pulled out of the squad.

A former youth international, Adeleye posted seven shutouts and conceded 35 goals in 26 all-competition appearances for Hapoel Jerusalem in the recently concluded season.
