Every word Peseiro said on first & second half display, penalty denied, Mexico, AFCONQ

Jose Peseiro faced the cameras shortly after losing his second consecutive game as coach of three-time African champions Nigeria.

The Super Eagles were beaten 1-0 by Ecuador on Friday morning, with Villarreal star Pervis Estupiñán netting what proved to be the game-winning goal after three minutes.

Answering questions from English speaking reporters, Peseiro shared his thoughts on the encounter at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.

The Portuguese football tactician was disappointed that his side were denied a penalty in the first half when Terem Moffi was felled by the Ecuador goalkeeper, spoke about his team's first and second half displays in the two friendlies and touched a bit on next week's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone.

You can read Peseiro's comments from the press briefing below  :

You have played two games now. First half not very good, second half absolutely fantastic. Now going into your tenure what do you think you need to do to get your team to play the same way as you played in the second half in these two games for ninety minutes?

"Against Mexico the first half we didn't play good but today I think the last 25, 30 minutes of the first half we were in command but only in the first 15 minutes we didn’t play like we can because we have players who can control the match, move the ball, command the game but we could not in the first fifteen minutes. After the first fifteen minutes we played very good in my opinion.

"The second half was much better, it's not easy to put pressure for 90 minutes like we did in the second half is not easy.

"I don't like to speak about the referee but at least a penalty. No VAR but in the stadium they showed that it was a clear penalty, the goalkeeper touched the foot of our striker (Moffi).

"Anybody can commit mistakes, I commit mistakes, the players and referee can commit mistakes also.

"Today we played much better than against Mexico. In the next match we'll play much better than this match.  I hope that we take this into our first Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone on the ninth.

What is the mindset of your team going into the game against Mexico?

"Today we played much better than against Mexico. Today we pressured more, we created more scoring opportunities, we created opportunities against Mexico also but today we had more pressure, more organization.

"Against Mexico we trained two times only, some players once.If you train four times, for that you must improve, they improved."
