Confirmed : Nigerian defender released by Brighton & Hove, four years after joining club
Published: June 03, 2022
Following the conclusion of the 2021-2022 season, English Premier League club Brighton & Hove have announced their retained and released list.
Promising Nigerian defender Ayo Tanimowo will be moving on to pastures new after the expiry of his contract on June 30, 2022.
The 20-year-old switched to the Seagulls from Norwich City in 2018, initially signing a scholarship before inking his first professional contract in the summer of 2020.
Tanimowo made 39 appearances for Brighton & Hove in the U18 Premier League and 24 in the Premier League 2, four of those games in his final season with the club.
He spent a portion of the 2020-2021 season on loan at non-leaguers Welling United to get a taste of first team football, but is set to depart the Amex Stadium without making his senior debut for Graham Potter's team.
Another young Nigerian defender Odel Offiah is still contracted to the Seagulls having signed a new deal in January 2022.
