Official : Randers sell 2021 Super Eagles invitee after fourteen matches
Published: June 06, 2022
Through their official website, Danish Superliga side Randers have announced that they have sold 2021 Super Eagles invitee Vincent Onovo to Hungarian club Ujpest.
The defensive midfielder has been on loan at Ujpest for the past four months and the Hungarian club have decided to trigger the option to buy clause included in his deal after his impressive performance in the second half of the season.
In his second spell with Ujpest, Onovo made fifteen appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and helped them reach the semifinals of the Magyar Kupa.
He made fourteen appearances for Randers in the first half of the 2021-2022 season.
"It is gratifying that Vincent has had plenty of playing time and joy of play in recent times, and that we have subsequently been able to make a permanent agreement with the club, which is close to a faithful copy of the agreement we made a year ago, when Vincent came to Randers," Randers sports director Søren Pedersen told the club's official website.
"Unfortunately, it did not turn out to be what we had hoped for with Vincent in Randers, but that's how it is in football sometimes, and we wish him and his family all the best of luck in the future."
Apart from the aforementioned clubs, Onovo previously turned for Finnish teams Inter Turku and HJK Helsinki.
The 26-year-old was a non-playing substitute for the Super Eagles in a goalless draw against Cameroon on June 8, 2021.
