Published: June 13, 2022
Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro has announced his starting lineup ahead of Monday afternoon's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against São Tomé and Príncipe at Stade Adrar, Agadir, Morocco.
Allnigeriasoccer.com's editorial staff brings you eight things to note on the starting lineup to face The Falcons and True Parrots Team.
1) The eleven players selected in the starting lineup have an average age of 24.64 years, with Semi Ajayi the oldest at 28.
2) Peseiro has made four changes to the starting lineup from last week's AFCONQ opener versus Sierra Leone, bringing in Zaidu Sanusi, Terem Moffi, Oghenekaro Etebo and Ademola Lookman.
3) Moffi is starting his first ever competitive game for the national team. His two previous starts were in recent friendlies with Mexico and Ecuador.
4) Calvin Bassey and Zaidu Sanusi, who are both predominantly left-backs, start a game together for the very first time.
5) Racing Genk striker Cyriel Dessers will become cap-tied to Nigeria if he makes an appearance off the bench.
6) Moses Simon is making his eighteen consecutive appearance for the Super Eagles, more than any other player in the squad. He has been handed the captain's armband in the absence of William Troost-Ekong.
7) Three players were born in the English capital London : Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman.
8) Chidozie Awaziem and Sani Faisal were in the traveling party to Morocco but have been omitted from the matchday squad.
