Freiburg reject second Brentford bid for German-Nigerian attacker
Published: July 12, 2022
Brentford are pushing hard to sign Freiburg's German-Nigerian attacker Kevin Schade before the close of the summer transfer window.
German sports publication Kicker says the Bees are not giving up their pursuit of Schade after their initial offer of fifteen million euros was rejected by Freiburg.
Per the report, Brentford made a second offer for the Germany U21 international but it was deemed insufficient to persuade Freiburg to reverse their earlier decision.
Freiburg sporting director Klemens Hartenbach has hinted that it does not make sense to sell Schade this summer, considering that he's still developing at the club.
The 20-year-old has made 21 career appearances in the German Bundesliga since making his debut against Borussia Dortmund last August, registering his name on the scoresheet on four occasions and provided an assist.
He missed the last two months of last season due to an abdominal muscle injury and is aiming to return to full training in two to three weeks time.
Schade has no release clause in his contract that would allow him to leave Freiburg if triggered by an interested club.
He was the third fastest player in the Bundesliga last season, clocking a maximum speed of 36.37 km/h.
