Flying Eagles-eligible wing-back on target for Chelsea XI in 5-0 win against Coventry U21s
Published: August 17, 2022
A Chelsea XI took on Coventry City's development squad in a friendly staged at Cobham Training Centre on Tuesday, August 16.
The friendly was arranged by the Premeir League side with the aim of giving minutes to some first team players who may be heading out on loan before the close of the summer transfer window, and development squad players who have been starved of playing time in the new season.
According to Chelsea insider Chelsea Youth, Ross Barkley, Michy Batshuayi, Silko Thomas (2) and Derrick Abu were the scorers for Chelsea in a 5-0 rout of Coventry City U21s.

Flying Eagles-eligible wingback Abu was in the Chelsea squad to the MLS NEXT Pro Invitational in the United States, where he featured in matches against Real Monarchs and Toronto 11.
He was not called up for Chelsea's first two matches of the new Premier League 2 season, missing the opener versus Wolves and Monday's 3-0 loss to Fulham.
Last season, the German-born Anglo-Nigerian defender represented Chelsea in the U18 Premier League, U18 Premier League Cup and FA Youth Cup.
Abu signed his first professional contract with the Stamford Bridge outfit in February 2021.
