Seven talented players of Nigerian descent took part in the Arsenal U21 photocall held at London Colney on August 15, 2022, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Tim Akinola, Zach Awe, Miguel Azeez, James Olayinka, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and Joel Ideho posed for photographs during the ceremony, a confirmation that they are all part of the Gunners development squad for the 2022-2023 season.
Ovie Ejeheri was also present despite the fact that he has been loaned out to National League South side Chelmsford City until January 2023.
The Anglo-Nigerian-Ugandan glovesman posted his first cleansheet as a professional as Chelmsford City defeated Slough Town on Tuesday evening, ten days after making his senior debut for the Clarets in a 1-1 draw against St Albans City on the opening day of the season.
All the aforementioned players were invited to train with the first team by manager Mikel Arteta last season.
Ryan Alebiosu and Mazeed Ogungbo have been loaned out to Kilmarnock and Crawley Town respectively for the entirety of the 2022-2023 season and were not involved in Arsenal U21s photocall.
Arsenal's development squad won their first two matches of the Premier League 2 season, beating Manchester United and West Ham United.
They face Swansea City in the Premier League Cup this evening.
