Arsenal-owned Anglo-Spanish-Nigerian midfielder makes his La Liga 2 debut
Published: September 12, 2022England youth international of Nigerian and Spanish descent Miguel Azeez has made his debut in the Spanish La Liga 2.
The Arsenal midfielder joined UD Ibiza in the hours leading up to the close of the summer transfer window, subject to a routine medical.
The paperwork is now complete, paving the way for the Hale End Academy product to be included in the matchday squad for Sunday's1-0 win against Tenerife at Estadio Can Misses – Power Electronic.
Wearing the number 16 at the back of his jersey, Azeez stepped out on to the turf as a replacement for Suleiman Camara with fourteen minutes left on the clock, helping the Balearic Islands club register their win of the season.
Before Azeez debuted for UD Ibiza, they had been struggling in the Spanish second tier, picking up just one point from a possible twelve.
The 19-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at League One club Portsmouth, where he made ten appearances and scored one goal, before he was recalled in the January transfer window.
Azeez has been on the books of Arsenal since the age of five, rising through the ranks before making his senior debut in a Europa League clash against Dundalk on December 10, 2020.
