Published: October 09, 2022
Stade de Reims had to settle for a goalless draw against French Ligue 1 table toppers Paris Saint-Germain in a tenth round clash staged at the Stade Auguste Delaune on Saturday night.
From a Nigerian and English perspective, all eyes were on Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun in what was arguably the biggest game of his club career to date.
Balogun entered the game in red hot form with six goals and an assist in nine appearances for the modest French club.
The Hale End Academy graduate could have won it for Stade de Reims in the 86th minute but missed the target after a cross from Bradley Locko.
Paris Saint-Germain fielded the leading marksmen in Ligue 1 with eight goals each, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar but the duo could not add to their tally.
According to statistics from Whoscored, Balogun outshone Neymar and Mbappe in one key stat during the game.
The Arsenal-owned striker made three key passes over the course of ninety minutes, while Mbappe and Neymar registered two and one respectively.
Balogun matched Neymar in total shots, with the two players registering three each, while Mbappe managed two.
